Congratulations on a highly successful Fall Challenge
What’s next in Group Fitness at Solcana: more strength and then a big change
More detailed results from the Fall Challenge Tests
There are many ways to measure success for The 2023 Fall Challenge. We explicitly measured the Clean and Jerk, Back Squat and Rowing. Check below for all the juicy, nerdy details and charts. To summarize, we made overwhelming gains in these three tests. A HUGE congratulations to everyone for your hard work and seeing it pay off.
Another way to measure success is in building new habits and connections. With 4,423 total class attendances during the challenge, we practiced showing up and that is how change happens. We also did it together and connecting with others around exercise is one of the very best ways to make it a lifelong practice.
Finally, we had a lot of fun. Look at our socials or around yourself in a class and you see people enjoying exercise. We had fun coming up with and competing for the prize drawing. Athletes and coaches alike are working hard to create an environment of welcoming, support and fun. Those gains are immeasurable and we thank each one of you for what you bring to Solcana!
Though The Fall Challenge is over, we will continue our focus on strength for the remainder of the year. We will test our Deadlift, Bench Press and Back Squat one more time before the end of the year. The strength forward programming will also not change until the new year.
Starting in January 2024, we move on with our Annual Programming Cycle. For more details on this and why we do it, see this previous blog post. Having completed our Strength Cycle, we are moving into The Invitational Cycle. The Invitational Cycle focuses on functional capacity and culminates with The Solcana Invitational in March, an optional 5-week event consisting of challenging weekly workouts.
Focusing on functional capacity looks like a wide variety of strength movements, skill work and workouts. The end result is that we increase our overall, total physical ability. This type of training checks a bajillion boxes for our bodies and minds.
The link below will take you to a chart of the results for The Fall Challenge. On the top are the percent improvements to highlight how much progress we made. Below I have the results in order of the biggest test out numbers just for pure glory.
I worked hard to record all the results from the white board, wodify and everything people sent me directly. I did my best to match the data to the names. I apologize for any errors.
