BLACK STRENGTH 2025

This year we have two great options to get started and stay connected with your strong, Black community.

Start Here:

-BLACK STRENGTH: LEARN TO LIFT-

Sundays at 1-3 pm

Each Learn To Lift Session is 2 weeks long.

SESSION 1: June 15 & 22

SESSION 2: July 13 & 20

SESSION 3: August 10 & 17

These 2 class series are perfect for you to get started and meet our community whether you are a new or returning lifter.

Keep It Going With:

-BLACK STRENGTH: WEEKLY-

Every Thursday at 7:30-8:30 pm, starting June 19th

These ongoing, weekly classes are for anyone who has completed a Learn To Lift series or participated in Black Strength in previous years.

Why you should join Black Strength:

The Black Strength programs are provided by Solcana Fitness completely FREE to the Black community. You will be led by experienced strength and conditioning coaches, Terrence Thigpen, Jeff Garcia, and Anna Fraser.


You will get the opportunity to learn how to lift barbells, kettlebells, and dumbbells with great technique. Try new things, gain strength, make new friends, and be in community.


In all of our Black Strength programs, you will get a great workout. Learn To Lift will focus a bit more on fundamentals of strength training technique. Black Strength Weekly will be more focused on doing the lifts, getting ongoing coaching, and staying connected.


All programs are open to anyone 18+ years old. No experience is required for the Learn To Lift series. We can take up to 24 people per Learn To Lift session. Black Strength Weekly classes will be limited to 20 people and will be first come, first served with an online sign up. We hope to grow both of these programs in the years to come to serve more and more people.


All bodies are welcome, and we highly encourage Queer, Trans, and Fat people to participate.

If you choose Learn to Lift, we will get you signed up for Black Strength Weekly at the end of your session. Because space is limited, we may need to place you on a waitlist for Learn To Lift or ask you to join a different session. We will reach out if that happens.
