What is the Invitational?

The Invitational is a series of 5 workouts that we do together as a gym all day on Fridays and at 9AM on Saturdays, from February 27th to March 28th. We also host social events called Friday Night Lights (FNL) that we do all of those Fridays instead of regular classes, 4:30-7PM.

The event workouts are crafted in secret by Coach Hannah W and are then revealed on Thursday evenings at 5 pm. The workouts will include movements that we are currently focusing on as a gym. Expect a diverse range of movements and formats.

All the Invitational workouts feel like social events where we connect with each other through sharing a challenge. At Friday Night Lights events, lots of people come out to cheer each other on while doing the workout. Enjoy team camaraderie, costumes, and after parties. We make it all feel pretty special.

How Does It Work?

All Solcana members are encouraged to participate in all the events. We also want everyone to officially register to engage with teams, prizes and sharing scores, but all that is optional.

You can tackle the workouts during any of the times listed above, as well as during Open Gym times on Sundays and Mondays.

Scoring workouts is completely optional, but can be a fun way to motivate yourself and those around you. Either way, your participation in the workouts and your choices around scoring have NO IMPACT on how you participate in teams or if you are eligible for prizes. Those are just about community connection and can be accessed simply by registering for the invitational (see link above and below).

What’s Up With Teams?

Joining a team won't influence when, how, or if you do the workouts, and your workout results won't impact your team. Teams are about making new friends and inspiring each other. We offer some fun team competitions like best team name and most creative team attire. It's all about having a good time and building relationships. During sign-up, you get to choose if you want to be part of a team. Regardless of your choice, you have full freedom over your participation in the Invitational workouts.

This year we are continuing to offer Affinity Teams. If you are an athlete who regularly participates in Fat Fitness, Masters, Black Strength, or Trans Strength, you have the option to choose to be on a team with others in your affinity group. It's totally up to you if you want to engage with an affinity group or just enter the bigger pool of Group Fitness athletes. We want everyone to have the support and options that help them feel comfortable.

Please register no later than Monday, 2/9/26, to get put on a team in the first round of selections. Anyone who requests a team after that will be added to teams as spots are available without quite as much lead time; still fun.

Do I Have To Register?

No, but please do! Even if you don't plan to do a single workout, registering opens doors to community building, team participation, and the chance to win exciting prizes. Newer athletes are especially encouraged to join for a chance to form lifelong connections with teammates and engage more deeply with the Solcana community. That said, you can unofficially participate in all the events without registering and still take what you want from those experiences.

Scaling Options:

If you choose to participate in the workouts, you will be able to choose from 4 pre-made categories or the Play category. The pre-made categories will have set options that means everyone who chooses that category will try to meet the same standards of movement, weights, difficulty, etc. The Play category allows you to take any options and even add your own options to make the workout that feels best to you. There is no need to commit to one category – mix and match week to week! Here are the categories and some examples of options for each:
