Summer 2026 Fat Fitness Programming Cylce
HELLO, FATTIES!
Welcome to our first (and maybe only? TBD) Solcana Fat Fitness blog post! Read on to learn more about what your illustrious coaches have planned for the summer cycle.
As many of you know, Solcana’s Fat Fitness program launched in May of 2022 under the name “Big Body Fitness.” It was started as a program for fat athletes to explore joyful movement in a setting with other fat people and fat coaches. In our early days, we offered one class per week that had only a handful of athletes. In the last four years, we have grown exponentially and now serve over 60 fat athletes and offer five classes per week. Fat Fitness is blazing the trail when it comes to fat-positive workout classes, and we are so happy that you have joined us as we continue to grow!
We are shaking things up this summer! We have heard your feedback about wanting to get back to the big three power lifts (back squat, deadlift, and bench press), so we are re-arranging the programming schedule to give you all as many opportunities to lift heavy as possible. Here’s the plan for the summer:
Tuesdays: Olympic lifts / explosiveness
Wednesdays: Endurance / agility
Thursdays: Lower body strength
Fridays: Upper body strength
Sundays: Partner / long metcon
With this new structure, athletes will have the opportunity to lift heavy in our Thursday and Friday Fat Fitness classes, Monday and Tuesday group fitness classes, and Saturday strength class. LET’S GOOOO!!!
So what specifically will we be working on this summer? Tuesdays will start with a 6-week snatch cycle and then move to a 6-week clean and jerk cycle, Thursdays will be a 12-week choose-your-own-adventure cycle with deadlift OR back squat, and Fridays will feature a 12-week bench press cycle. All cycles will have an opportunity to max out at the beginning and the end of each cycle. For our accessory work, we will continue to focus on hanging and on overhead movements. We will also dial in to those small muscles that we don’t think about very often by isolating small movements, like scapular pull ups and push ups. We will also continue to build off of all of the agility work we have been doing so far this year and start introducing some plyometric movements. Plyometrics are movements that help build strength, power, balance, and agility. FUN!!
We are really looking forward to this summer cycle! It will be an opportunity to build strength over a longer period of time (12 weeks! wow!) while introducing some fun new accessory movements. As always, we appreciate your feedback! You can let us know your thoughts by connecting with the Fat Fitness coaches individually, or by submitting a comment through the Solcana Member Webpage.
In Fatness and Fitness,
