Welcome to the 2026 Fall Programming Cycle and Fall Challenge!

September 04, 20264 min read

Two years in this space and it's hard to believe Solcana was ever not here. In addition to getting comfy in our space, we have been working on getting comfy in our bodies! We spent the summer building muscle, chasing squat quality, and getting more resilient in every direction. Now it is time to take those strong foundations and use them to build RAW STRENGTH GAINS!!!

Fall is when we take our hypertrophy and stability work and point it at one job: getting strong as hell. We will use big lifts to load all the major muscle groups, and we will test-in and test-out so you can see exactly how much stronger you got. That shows us how effective our efforts are and it keeps us motivated along the way.

The Fall Programming Cycle

The Fall Programming Cycle starts Tuesday, 9/8/26, runs through to the new year, and is all about gaining strength. This is part of our annual big picture plan where we shift the main focus of our programming across different areas of fitness and functional capacity (hypertrophy, stability and mobility, skill, endurance, power production, and so on). Cycling our focus this way keeps us progressing rather than plateauing, keeps things interesting, and makes the best use of the time you spend in the gym.

Deadlift is the headliner this fall heading into Drop Deadlift Gorgeous! We will measure it directly, with additional measurements on Push-Ups and Sprint Capacity. We will also use a variety of supporting exercises like pull-ups, presses, carries and single leg work to build resilience and keep your gains balanced across the whole spectrum of movement.

We will keep plenty of variety in the mix. Skill, power, and endurance work will all show up to set the foundation for future gains. Expect a mix of Olympic lifting, gymnastics progressions, and fast stuff like Wall Balls, Jump Rope and Rowing. All of that plays a supporting role to the main event, which is getting strong.

Here is a look at what our workout week will look like in general:

  • Mondays and Tuesdays: Pure Strength! Big lifts and Accessory work. Choose your own adventure (CYOA) between Deadlift Progressions and Variations and an Upper Body Strength Medley.

  • Wednesdays and Thursdays: Conditioning and Skill! Endurance work, skill work, high repetition strength, machine sprints, longer metcons, Athletic Conditioning employing a wide variety of exercises.

  • Fridays and Saturdays: Power + Hypertrophy! Keep building muscle with a shift toward strength gains using Presses, Squats, Deadlift, Olympic lifts and Bodybuilding.

  • Sunday: Fun with a Function! Mix a wide variety of high intensity formats with partner work and throw in a big dash of stability, strength, balance, skill, and power to round out your amazing workout week.

The Fall Challenge

The Fall Challenge is an event spanning September, October and November where we focus on a few movements to work on as a gym. The goal is to have fun, connect as a community, and give you some motivation and incentive to get back into a regular practice of exercise after the shifts that often accompany summer schedules. It is built into the Fall Programming already, but see below for some additional ways to participate.

This year, the Fall Challenge movements will be:

  • 1 to 3 Rep Maximum Deadlift

  • Max Push-Ups in 2:00

  • Max Units Machine Sprint (:30 Bike or 1:00 Row)

We will TEST-IN to these movements during classes on Monday or Tuesday, 9/14/26 or 9/15/26, or during any Open Gym that week.

We will TEST-OUT of these movements during classes on Monday or Tuesday, 11/23/26 or 11/24/26, or during any Open Gym that week.
