Is your Trans teenager seeking an empowering community?
Does your kiddo need a place where they can be fully themselves?
Trans Teen Summer Program
June 5th - Aug 28th, 2025
Thursdays
4:30-5:30 pm
Join our weekly summer program for trans* youth who want to be in community with other teens like them, learning to move their bodies with confidence and strength, so they feel more confident in their lives.
Solcana is a queer, feminist and equity focused gym located in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis. We offer small group classes focused on strength training and conditioning, and believe that high-quality fitness should be accessible to all bodies. If you cannot afford the full price of our programs, scholarships are readily available and we are happy to help.
Weekly beginner strength and conditioning classes, lead by LGBTQIA+ coaches.
No diet talk: simple fitness advice that is non-judgmental and helps teens feel confident in fueling their bodies, without suggesting they need to change the way they look.
Small group so your teen experiences genuine connections.
Open to ages 14-19 (entering high school to just graduated).
Participation in sports and fitness is lower in trans youth due to school policies, active discrimination in sports, lack of access to appropriate locker rooms and bathrooms, and harassment from other youth and adults.
Dozens of states have introduced and passed legislature to ban Trans youth from participating in sports.
Studies demonstrate that Transgender and nonbinary students who participate in sports, perform better in school and have higher grades than their non-athlete peers .
Transgender and nonbinary students who participate in athletics are also percentage points less likely to consider suicide than their non-athlete peers.
Interaction with successful, athletic Trans and nonbinary adults offers trans and nonbinary youth a window into a possible future.
16 spots available
Max is a white, gay, trans man who feels very passionately about helping fellow trans folks feel empowered through all forms of strength-based movements. He has been lifting non-competitively since 2016, with a powerlifting focus, and is now thrilled to be coaching at Solcana Fitness. He loves to approach fitness and lifting in a holistic manner that centers mindfulness, intentionality and enjoyment over "grindset," and hopes to help folks build positive relationships with movement grounded in their bodies. Outside of the gym, he is a full-time graphic designer, and enjoys painting, long bike rides, and napping on the couch with his dog.

A: We ask that your kiddo is available for at least 9 of the weeks, but your summer pass gets you access to as many as you can attend
Q: What are your covid procedures for the camp?
A: Currently masks are optional. We have a large space and will keep the garage door open as we are able for extra air flow. We will update our procedures in response to an ever-changing world.
